Thank You Notes
There are many missions that Mediator has undertaken. This page is a place for those to express their gratitude for what Mediator has done for them in their spiritual, ministry and worship lives. It also offers a place for Mediator to thank those who have helped us complete our ministry in and for the community. Thank you notes received are usually hung on the bulletin board outside the library.
Thank You from the ECW
Thank you to those of you who made soups or desserts for the Soup Sampler.
Thank you to those who have contributed hats, gloves, scarves, mittens for the Giving Tree. Your contributions are welcome through Epiphany Sunday, January 4.
Thank you to those of you who have purchased 2009 calendars (wall size or pocket size). The proceeds from these sales help us to reach out to those in our community who are in need. Calendars are still available through any member of the ECW.
Thank you to those who so graciously helped with the reception for the Michael Kasick family following Michael's burial. Your contributions of food and your assistance with setting up, replenishing serving dishes and coffee, cleaning up, washing tablecloths, etc., etc., is most appreciated. Carol C., ECW Convenor
Christmas Wreath Thank You
This year Mediator's Outreach Commission sponsored five Habitat for Humanity families for our Christmas wreath. Habitat for Humanity was chosen due to our connection to the organization and families through our parishioners' volunteer work on the building blitz project this past Fall and other projects in years past. Some of the families we sponsored were already living in their Habitat for Humanity houses, while others were getting ready to move into their new homes.
The response this year was amazing! Almost all the tags on the wreath were taken the first weekend the wreath was up, and we were able to add more tags and expand our gift giving to the needy families. In addition to the gifts received by each family member, every family also received a grocery store gift card to help them with a holiday meal. Thank you all for your generosity in this special outreach project. The families are so appreciative of all that they get. Nora E.
Dear Friends
Thank you for your generous donation of food to the Grace Community Foundation. Your kind donation will help support our ongoing efforts to fulfill our mission of feeding the hungry people of Allentown. As you can imagine, the downturn in our economy has had a real impact on us this year. May your goodwill to help others less fortunate ease the disparities locally and in the world, and pray one day no one will ever have to go hungry. Patricia McNamara - Grace Community Foundation
APPLES - APPLES EVERYWHERE!
Here comes the buzz and laughter of the ECW Women, with a quick knife here, an apple curl there, the small of cinnamon, and the sound of bubbling sauce.
A cover of pastry puffed in a hot oven and then off to bring smiles to our church friends!
Thanks, to one and all, for all of your support and help with the apple dumpling project. Dottie K.
Dear Rev. Tjeltveit,
On behalf of the students and staff, we would like to thank you for your generous donation of school supplies. We always have some students who need them. We pride ourselves in helping each child be successful. With your donation we can make this happen.
Sincerely, Phil Turton, principal, Muhlenberg Elementary School
158 pairs of socks - Thanks!
MEDIATOR
RECEIVES PRESERVATION AWARD
West
Park Civic Association gave a Preservation Award to Mediator at the
Allentown Preservation League Awards Ceremony, on May 8. The award was
given for the work that Mediator is doing with West Park, our
commitment to the neighborhood, and the way we keep our buildings and
grounds. The Rev. Maria Tjeltveit, David H., Junior Warden, and Judy D.
and Tammy D., who do our landscaping, were present to receive the
award. You can see the award and certificate from State Senator Patrick
Browne in the Commons Room.
LOIS
STEIN, AN UNSUNG HERO
Lois Stein, who has belonged to Mediator longer than any other living member, received an Unsung Hero Award from the Lehigh County Agency on Aging, for her many years of service to the community, especially through Red Cross and the Miller Blood Bank. Marty C., another parishioner, nominated Lois for this award, and copies of his nomination narrative are available at the church. Congratulations Lois!
