Shooting Star - Week of June 7, 2009

Hi Everyone—

As I finish out my last two weeks before my summer break begins, I am making plans for next year. Things will remain the same for the most part, but we will have some changes to J2A and Kid’s Club for sure. I will be here through 6/16 and around during the summer from time to time, but you will have to get along without my weekly town crier—the Shooting Star. Think you can make it?

KID’S CLUB (UP TO GRADE 2): I am looking into several new formats for Kid’s Club beginning in the fall. We will most definitely need to continue having volunteers each week.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (FAMILIES):  I have noticed something very interesting with regard to VBS; many people are absolutely devoted to their VBS one might even say passionate about it. We all love our Mediator family, but I have been told that VBS is a wonderful opportunity to get to meet new people and experience something a little different.

From Gale Morrisson:  “Bethany VBS we have done, it was really wonderfully done and there were a TON of kids, I mean 100s.   It was free and open to all.” http://www.bethanyumchurch.com  VBS 2009 June 22nd - 26th - At Crocodile Dock, kids will keep an eye out for "God in action", in their everyday lives, and they will discover how they can be a "God Sighting", by showing Christ's love. Choose from AM (9:15AM - 12P) or PM (6:15PM - 8:30PM) programs. Online registration coming soon!!! For all kids Four years old through 6th Grade.

NURSERY HELP NEEDED—(BEGINNING SEPT): We will be loosing one of our nursery attendants this summer when Isabelle Bade will attend college in Ohio , and will be returning to the system of 1 paid attendant and 1 volunteer so that funds can be redirected. Therefore I will be asking for your help again to staff the nursery with volunteers. It begins at 9am and goes (the latest) till the conclusion of the 10:15 service. Anyone from the age of 13 may volunteer. This is a necessary service, so if anyone would be willing to help once a quarter or once a month, that would be fabulous. Please email me and I’ll put together a schedule.  Thanks in advance for your help. This would begin mid-Sept.

FAMILY EUCHARIST—SUMMER:  Family Eucharist dates for the summer are as follows: June 14th, and August 2nd  there will be no Family Eucharist in July and there will be no Kid’s Club on those days.

RALLY SUNDAY (HELP!)—Rally Sunday will be September 13th .We have traditionally had some kind of entertainment for the kids during the 9-10am hour. At this point I am coming up totally dry in this regard and could use some ideas. I have spoken to many people but with my extremely limited budget to pay for this, have not found anyone as yet. If you know of some form of entertainment, please email me the details and I will follow up. Thanks so much!!

BISHOP’S DAY FOR KIDS (GRADES 1-5):—If you are looking for a way to connect with your Mediator friends during the summer, how about The Exodus Games: Xtreme Faith Stories! For kids in grades 1-5 (parents welcome). August 15, 2009, Cathedral Church of the Nativity.9:30-2:30  Parents can go have lunch while the kids have a terrific time!

Please remember that I check email all summer and that you are welcome to call me at home 610-966-1635.

Have a terrific week!
