The Episcopal Church of the Mediator

title

Tim Bingham is married to Sue Bingham and has two kids, one of whom is Jonathan who is a member of this parish.  Tim was a partner in the Connecticut law firm of Tyler Cooper and Alcorn for about 25 years.  He also practiced law for New Haven Legal Assistance and was a law clerk to one of the Watergate judges, Gerhard Gesell.  Tim was very active in his prior parish serving on the vestry on three different occasions.  Tim has been one of the regular soloists in Sue's opera company and recently graduated from the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation.

Sydney Davis was born in the Pennsylvania German farmlands of Snyder Country and raised from her early teens onward in Harrisburg, so she's happy both in the country and the city.  A Dickinson College romance with, and marriage to, a Jersey boy led her to Middlesex Country, New Jersey, graduate school at Rutgers, and a very busy 30-year career as a college librarian in the heart of the Garden State.  Widowed and retired by 1996, Sydney decided to pull up roots and move to the Lehigh Valley, where the remaining few of her family members were living.  The decision was a fine one, leading to wonderful new alliances and a good deal of community theatre stage acting (her longtime passion) and other volunteer work for many arts organizations in the Valley.  Among them, Sydney (aka the artist formerly known as Lynn) is proud to be a longtime member and officer of two local theatre Boards, as well as an active participant with a number of other Valley arts groups and community organizations.  Her current associations with Mediator include serving as a Lay Eucharistic Visitor, reading Morning Prayer services at the Church, and being a happy member of the book club, movie group and dinner partnerships.  Believing that you can never have too much of a good thing, she is proud and humble to become part of the Mediator vestry and promises her very best efforts for such a worthwhile commitment.

Barry Diehl  My family have been members of Mediator since 2006.  I have a much longer history with the church having been baptized here in 1963 and having attended the church through most of my youth.  My parents were active in the church for a long time.  Sue and I were married in 1994 at Lock Ridge Furnace in Alburtis, Pennsylvania.  Our first daughter Samantha was born in Fairfax, Virginia in 1998, and Helen in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005.  We returned to the Lehigh Valley in 2005 after living in the South for our entire married life.  I am a 1984 graduate of the University of San Diego, and spent 24 years in retail management.  I recently made a career change to Branch Director of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I restarted my running six years ago and have since run six marathons and six half marathons, and am making plans to run in a 50-mile event next fall.  Sue and I are proponents of sustainable energy and are committed to applying what we learn in our home.  Currently at the church I co-chair the Communication/Evangelism Commission and serve as a mentor to a confirmand.  I want my work on the vestry to help the Mediator be a vibrant and growing part of the community where all ages can come together through worship and fellowship to develop a greater understanding of God and each other.

Judith Haase has been a member of Mediator since 1968.  As an adult, she was the first female acolyte when the church rules changed to allow females to serve.  She has been a chalice bearer for two terms and has served on the vestry once before.  Judith taught for 13 years, seven at the Swain School, and has worked in the graphics group of B. Braun Medical in Bethlehem for the past 20 years.  Judith lives in Northampton with her husband Roy and has two children, Ethan and Bronwyn, and two grandchildren (and twin boys on the way!).
