March 28, Palm Sunday, 8:00 and 10:15, with blessing of the palms, and a dramatic reading of the Passion Gospel.
March 30, Tuesday, Tenebrae, 7:30 p.m. psalms and readings from the Letter to the Hebrews, and writings of St. Augustine, moving from light to darkness.
April 1, Maundy Thursday, 7:30 p.m. Our service of Holy Eucharist, remembers the story of Jesus washing the disciples' feet, told in the Gospel of John, and Jesus' words and actions at the Last Supper. It includes a symbolic washing of the feet of twelve members of the congregation, to represent the twelve disciples. It ends with the stripping and washing of the altar, in preparation for Good Friday. Please sign up by the elevator if you would like to participate in the foot washing.
April 2, Good Friday, The Three Hours, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. This is a meditative service, focusing on Jesus' crucifixion, that we do with our neighboring churches, Christ Lutheran, St. Stephen's Lutheran, Emmanuel UCC, and Salem United Methodist. We walk through the neighborhood carrying a large wooden cross between the churches. You are invited to come for one or more of the hours.
12:00 - 12:45, Christ Lutheran Church, 13th and Hamilton Streets.
1:00 - 1:45, St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Franklin and Turner Streets.
2:00 - 3:00, Mediator, ending with the veneration of the cross.
April 2, Good Friday Proper Liturgy, 7:30 p.m. This service focuses on Jesus' passion and death, with prayers for the church and world, and the veneration of the cross. The hymns and Choir anthems add to the solemn beauty of the service. Members of the congregation are invited to carry the cross up to the altar, and place candles around the altar.
April 3, Easter Vigil, 8:00 p.m. Our first celebration of Easter, moving from darkness of death to the light of the resurrection. In candlelight we will hear the story of God with sung psalms and canticles.
Sunday, April 4, Easter Day, 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Festive Holy Eucharist at 10:15 a.m. with Brass, Timpani and Choir.
